This week I took the plunge, aided in part by the offer to pay 50% by my better half, to get the new Microsoft Action Pack. He has been wanting to put Windows Vista on his machine since we downloaded the beta last year (and helped bring the Internet to its knees).
I'm shallow because even though my morals say "keep away!", I'm curious. I want to see how it will run on my 3 year old notebook. I want to see how much I'd have to rewrite in my software catalogue to ensure compatibility with Vista.
I already have an Apple iMac, so I have a pretty OS that runs UNIX at its core. It's not about that. It's about selling out because Microsoft says so.

Vista Ultimate on a 2 year old p4 3.4 2GB and 128 ati Mobility 9800 takes about 8 minutes to boot up… that's excluding network connection and OneCare or Defender kicking in…
