In my ongoing quest to rid myself of relying on Windows, I've finally got network printing working from the iMac. Yay!
In other news, my laptop is going in to be repaired (hopefully) this week, with new fans that should resolve the problems I've been having with it. I'm not going *near* Vista again, though. It is really not my cup of tea. That said, I've moved my daily grind to the Mac now, so I only need a machine to do .NET development on. The laptop in a Windows 2000 configuration might actually work.
As for my aging desktop machine, I've looked at an upgrade path (one must keep one's gaming options open) which brings me Core 2 Duo, 1 GB RAM and RAID 1 should I need it, plus a respectable video card, at R5000. I can't afford it, but I know it's possible to spec a machine that will last for another three years or so.
