The South African Blood Service has finally given in to pressure and facts, and reduced their requirement for blood donations from gay men, from five years of celibacy to just six months.
While this is still not the same as heterosexual allowances, it is a vast improvement. Well done.
Now all we need to do is lower the age of consent for gay men from 19 to 16, in line with international trends. After all, straight girls can have sex at 16. What makes them more mature?
(Edited in 2007 to say we did it! The age of consent is now 16 across the board.)
