How can something be "new and improved"? It's either new OR improved. Grrrr!

Hrm, not so sure I agree with you: it's quite possible to make a new version of a product with a craptastic result – this results in 'new', but not improved.
OTOH, something that's improved is by definition also new as it's different from the previous iteration. :p
