It’s not often that I agree with the Pope, so I’ve decided to blog about it, naturally. We both dislike the commercialisation and consumerism of Christmas. Though, in fairness, I just dislike Christmas entirely. Also, bah humbug.
Vatican City – Pope Benedict XVI on Sunday criticised “materialistic” ways of celebrating Christmas, pressing the Vatican’s campaign against unbridled consumerism.
His brief comments, delivered from the window of his private studio to pilgrims below in St. Peter’s Square, built on his dismay expressed on Saturday that ever younger boys and girls are caught up in consumer pursuits.
