If you need to understand why this is bad, read this thread from Alice Goldfuss, starting here:

As for me, well …

I’m not a medical professional and can’t profess to know everything there is about gender and sex, but I do know that I want to distance myself as far from JK Rowling as is humanly possible. That means I need to make some changes.

While I’ve already changed my surname for professional reasons, I want to get rid of it legally, which is no small feat considering there is a stack of paperwork to get through in this country I wasn’t born in. I wonder if I can sue Rowling for more than two decades of mental anguish…

I am a feminist. I believe in equality for all genders. I believe in correcting the balance of equality for women. However, I believe that trans rights are human rights and that feminism is not compatible with transphobia.

If you are anti-trans, or believe that trans people are a threat to womanhood, I literally do not want to talk to you. If we’re related, that’s going to make things really quiet at family gatherings. My support for equality extends to every gender.

  1. Cheers, Randolph. Cheers for standing up and being counted. Cheers for being a feminist. I align with everything you’re saying because it’s important, necessary, and, simply, kind.
