Of New Year and Tsunami

It has certainly been an interesting week in the world: Around 125 000 people perished in South East Asia from tsunamis caused by a massive earthquake. Microsoft had to pay their fine to the EU. The Euro is too strong. I turned 28. My other half is away at Sun City with family. Oh, that’sContinue reading Another year, another wrinkle
Well I made it to 28. When I was younger, I never imagined myself making it this far. I'm serious! I never actually thought I'd ever get past 27. Well, so far it's almost three hours old, but my 28th birthday has proven every feeling wrong. Granted I have until 6pm local time to be sure, but let's not get technical.
Tomorrow is my birthday. I'll be 28 years old. I'm wondering if I can pull a fast one on the world and pretend I'm turning 27 again. I've been out of the public eye for a while, so it may be possible!
Nick broke up with me tonight, over MSN. Stay classy.
What a load of SHIT! I had to generate a new blog entry to get this off my chest. Some monkey who claims to be a consultant has labelled the World Community Grid project a potential "powerful cyber-terror weapon". The article can by found here. My hosting provider improved the PHP security on this website with a change that required a modification of every single page (357 of them at last count). I have hopefully completed this task, which was not pleasant.
Today my website, although probably in its fifth incarnation, has officially turned nine years old. I began with a single page website back on Sunday, 14 October 1995, and today I have been running a personal website for 3288 days. Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me. Incidentally, some of the very first wordsContinue reading Happy Birthday Dear Website
The end of the month … My esteemed insurance company chose to pay me out what they call the “retail” value of the car, which ended up being R10 000 less than what I paid (over 20% of the value of the car). Also, R2 000 additional for the radio which has not been forthcoming,Continue reading Dire Straits Direct
My Mercedes-Benz was written off on 29 July 2004 by a Bantam bakkie (that's a light delivery vehicle or "pick-up" for non-South Africans), that failed to check the main road for traffic whilst crossing the intersection from a stop street. I was not even travelling 50km per hour. I'm fine, although whiplash is taking a slight toll on my flexibility. I'm getting tired of the lawlessness on the roads – see my comments about this here and here.
